Building for State 3: Architecture for Autonomous Agents at Enterprise Scale

Stage 3 enterprises face a critical choice: approve everything and hope agents don't make mistakes, or require human approval for everything and eliminate the benefit of automation. The answer isn't binary. What enterprises need is autonomy within defined authority - let agents run freely within policy, escalate exceptions to humans, and keep humans accountable for what agents do on their behalf. This is what transaction-level authority architecture accomplishes: it lets you delegate bounded authority to agents, define that authority in business vocabulary, evaluate transactions at decision time, and maintain cryptographic proof of every decision.

Today’s Agent Infrastructure - why it’s not Enough For the Agentic Enterprise.

OAuth and MCP gave us the foundation for agent access. But as enterprises scale agents beyond Stage 2, a critical gap emerges: the difference between access and authority. This article shows where today's infrastructure breaks down when agents need to make consequential decisions - from purchase order approval to multi-agent delegation - and why closing that gap requires a new architectural layer built on verifiable, transaction-level authorization.

The Maturity Journey - How Enterprises Are Deploying AI Agents

The conversation around AI agents has shifted from whether they work to how enterprises deploy them at scale. As organizations move beyond pilot projects, identity and access control alone fall short - the real challenge is establishing and proving transaction-level authority in real-time.
