Naveen Agarwal
CO-Founder & CTO
Naveen Agarwal is a technology and identity leader with deep experience building and securing large-scale authentication, authorization, and identity systems. He is a technical member of the team at LayeredTrust, where he brings decades of hands-on identity expertise to the challenge of establishing verifiable trust for autonomous AI agents.
LayeredTrust is building trust infrastructure that enables enterprises to cryptographically verify not only who an AI agent is and what it is authorized to do, but who delegated that authority, under what constraints, and whether the agent had the authority to take a specific action at the moment it was requested. Naveen’s background in identity, authentication, OAuth, and security is closely aligned with the technical challenges LayeredTrust is addressing as enterprises move toward increasingly autonomous agentic systems.
Naveen has held senior engineering and identity roles at some of the world’s leading technology companies, including Microsoft, Google, and Yahoo. At Google, he was a member of the Identity team and worked on initiatives designed to strengthen authentication, OAuth security, application identity, and protections around third-party access to user data. Earlier in his career, he served as Director of Engineering for Yahoo Membership, working on identity systems at internet scale.
He has also contributed to the broader identity standards community. Naveen is a co-author of RFC 7636, the IETF standard for Proof Key for Code Exchange (PKCE), a widely used security extension to OAuth 2.0 designed to protect authorization flows from interception attacks.
Naveen is an inventor on multiple patents related to authentication, session management, login, account management, and online security. His career has consistently focused on solving difficult identity and security problems at scale while building and leading engineering teams responsible for critical infrastructure.
At LayeredTrust, Naveen is applying that experience to a new generation of identity and authorization challenges: establishing a cryptographically verifiable chain of trust for AI agents acting on behalf of people, applications, and enterprises.
